Search Committees

The department chair should appoint a Search Committee to review applications and to make recommendations for selection. This committee should include minorities and women whenever possible.

The individual(s) conducting the search will make arrangements for the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Equity and Diversity and/or the Academic Services Analyst to meet with the search committee to discuss the position and to clarify appropriate recruiting procedures. The Assistant Vice President will lend assistance by suggesting additional resources, if appropriate, to affirmatively recruit women and minority applicants.

Search Committee Training

The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity has developed an online module for Search Committee Training. This on Blackboard training module has replaced the in-person search committee classroom workshops.

Once taken, the certification is effective for one year (12 months from completion date).

How to access the training on Blackboard

Search committee members seeking to complete the training can access the module in Blackboard by following these steps:

  1. NAVIGATE TO BLACKBOARD & LOG IN

    Access the enrollment page by following this link: Blackboard Search Committee Training

    NOTE: If you are not signed into Blackboard you will be prompted to do so.

  2. CLICK TO ENROLL

    Once logged into Blackboard you will receive the message "User not enrolled in organization". Do NOT click "OK". In the error box select "Click here to enroll."

    NOTE: Selecting "OK" will take you back to a Monarch-Key Error screen.

  3. ENROLL

    Select "+ Enroll", which is listed under Search Committee Training, in the dark gray menu on the left side of the "Access Denied" screen.

    NOTE: The gray box may be hidden. Please press the sliver of blue on the left side of the screen to expand the box.

  4. FINISH ENROLLMENT

    Click “Submit” on the Self Enrollment screen and then click “OK”.


  5. BEGIN TRAINING

    You are now enrolled into the Search Committee Training. To begin your course, select "Training Module" which is listed under Search Committee Training, in the dark gray menu on the left side of the screen. Once you finish watching the video please be sure to complete the Exit Quiz for credit.

    NOTE: The gray box may be hidden. Please press the sliver of blue on the left side of the screen to expand the box.


    LOCATE THE EXIT QUIZ

    • Select the arrow in the top right corner of the page to go to the next page.
