About SACSCOC Reaffirmation

ODU's Reaffirmation Process

Reaffirmation of accreditation occurs every 10 years and is an opportunity for Old Dominion University (ODU) to evaluate its programs and services. The University's next reaffirmation of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) will take place in 2023. This process is also known as The Decennial.

Accreditation by SACSCOC signifies that the institution has met 73 standards and 17 core requirements including:
  • mission appropriate to higher education needs.

  • Supplies resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain The University's mission.

  • Maintain specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, as well as indicating whether it's successful in achieving stated objectives.
