Checklist

The following checklist can serve as a succinct list of to-do items with relevant support documentation in order to get your course online quickly.

Please note: Not all items apply to every course. Resource links connect to Instructure's Canvas Community Guides unless otherwise noted.

If content has already been copied into your course for the new term, skip Part 1 and proceed to Part 2: Update and Publish Your Course.

If your course's content has already been copied into your course, skip this section and proceed to Part 2.

Reset your new course shell to prepare for your course copy/import to avoid duplicate content from the default template.

  • Step 1: Open your course and, from the Course Navigation Menu, click Settings.
  • Step 2: Choose Reset Course Content on the right side of the page. Read the warning pop-up carefully before choosing Reset Course.
    • Warning: This is a permanent action that cannot be undone.

Copy/Import course content into a blank course shell.

Update the Instructor Information page and course Home Page if one is provided in your course copy.

Check the course syllabus and update it as needed. 

Update assignments and associated dates as needed. 

Check/Update/Add any relevant course content.

Verify all links within your course are functioning properly.

Check the course using Student View before publishing your course.

Publish your updated course.

Verify that Respondus Lockdown Browser has no errors.

Verify SmarterProctoring is set up properly for quizzes/exams.
