Student Ambassadors

Program Overview

The Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University Student Ambassador program provides students an opportunity to serve as representatives of the institution before key constituent groups, such as donors, alumni, community leaders, and senior leadership. Ambassadors assist with campus tours, attend EVMS Development events, give presentations to board members and connect with alumni.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be part of a select group of students trained to advance our mission.
  • Network with trustees, community leaders, alumni and donors.
  • Represent EVMS at significant events and activities.
  • Give tours to prospective donors and community members.
  • Share your experiences as a student to alumni, donors and civic and cultural leaders.
  • Assist with messages of gratitude that can be shared with donors.

  • Provide availability as requested
  • Make every effort to attend Lunch and Learn events to become familiar with updated program information
  • Maintain discretion and privacy with confidential information
  • Track service hours accurately

Leadership Rounds

Leadership Rounds is a monthly speaker and workshop series designed specifically for student ambassadors to strengthen their leadership skills and professional development. The series provides structured opportunities to learn directly from experts within EVMS, the local community, alumni network and broader professional landscape.

Sessions may include formal didactic presentations, interactive workshops, and conversational forums that pair leadership theory with real-world insight.
