First Fridays for Prospective Undergraduate Students

Join us on the first Friday of every month (except January and July) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to learn more about the undergraduate programs offered at Old Dominion University in the College of Sciences.

Your "FIRST FRIDAYS" visit includes:

  • A tour of the College of Sciences facilities, including research labs
  • A chance to interact with current students and faculty
  • A Q&A session with College of Sciences students and an admissions representative

  Visit the Kaplan Orchid Conservatory

The Arthur & Phyllis Kaplan Orchid Conservatory is a $2.1 million structure with almost 3,000 square feet of greenhouse space houses the orchid collection of late Norfolk physician Arthur Kaplan, a longtime grower of exquisite orchids. It is the largest orchid collection in the Tidewater, Virginia area. The display greenhouse is open Monday through Friday 10:00am to 2:00pm when the university is open, and at other times by appointment.

  New Chemistry Building

The new Chemistry building on Elkhorn Avenue features state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, a tutoring/active learning center, competitive teaching and research laboratories, faculty offices, and the Monarch's Premiere Planetarium/Digital Theater equipped with 3-D model simulation, free-flight navigation through the Universe, and a cutting-edge laser projector. This amazing facility offers an unrivaled chemistry education experience in the Commonwealth.
