Residents and medical students will learn to diagnose, treat and manage conditions or diseases of the endocrine system in infants, children and adolescents. These conditions may include:
- Diabetes
- Disorders of sexual development of the thyroid, adrenal and parathyroid glands
- Hypoglycemia
- Hirsutism
- Menstrual disorders
- Disorders of bone metabolism/formation (including rickets)
In addition to the more than 3,500 visits to our clinics each year, our inpatient program is responsible for at least 100 admissions per year for children who require diagnostic workups. The division also has an ongoing contract with the City of Norfolk to provide care for adolescents at the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.
