The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE). The undergraduate degree in civil engineering prepares graduates for entry into professional practice and continued intellectual and professional development throughout their career. Civil engineers conceive, plan, design construct, and maintain the facilities and infrastructures that are essential to our civilization. These include highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, dams, water distribution systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, industrial and commercial buildings, ports and harbors, coastal and off-shore structures, space satellites and launching facilities. A career in Civil Engineering is suited to you if you are interested in math and science, enjoy turning ideas into reality, have a social awareness and willingness to help people live better, and want personal fulfillment and financial growth.

The B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology (CET) is a high-quality degree program that meets national standards of excellence. The program focuses on the application and practice of civil engineering principles, and offers three specializations: Construction Management, Structural Design, and Site Development. Graduates will have the technical and managerial skills necessary to enter careers in planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems. The math and physics throughout the curriculum is consistent with that required in practice. The program focuses on development of communication and entrepreneurial skills.

The computer engineering program is designed to provide a broad engineering background and a comprehensive foundation in the technical principles underlying the computer area. The technical core consists of coursework from electrical engineering to address hardware aspects of computer engineering and coursework from computer science to address software aspects. The curriculum builds on the hardware description language tools introduced in the sophomore year to master the design, test and synthesis of advanced digital circuits.

The electrical engineering program provides a solid foundation in networks, linear systems, electronics, electromagnetics, digital systems, and physical electronics. Emphasis is placed on understanding principles through theoretical investigation and experimental verification. Learn device fabrication processes (photolithography, oxidation, diffusion, metallization) and fabricate your own circuits in the clean room.

The Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program provides the broad skill set required for entry-level success and long-term progression in the dynamic career areas in electrical engineering technology.

Students in all concentrations receive a core education in basic electrical circuits, computer-oriented hardware including electronics, microprocessors and digital systems, and electrical power and machinery, and they focus on their chosen specialization through junior and senior courses in communications, digital circuits and systems, advanced PLCs, control systems, smart grids, alternative energies, microcomputer-based design, and local area networks. At course level, students are also exposed to current cyber-security issues related to various systems they study.

A Bachelor of Science Degree (BSME) in Mechanical Engineering is an accredited four-year program of study, which requires 128 credit hours. Our program prepares students for professional careers in all areas of engineering. It also prepares students for graduate study in mechanical engineering or related fields.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET and offers five areas of concentration: Manufacturing Systems, Marine Systems, Mechanical Systems Design, Mechatronics Systems, and Nuclear Systems. Students in these concentrations take common courses in areas such as computer-aided drafting, statistics, strength of materials, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, automation and controls, and computer solid modeling. Graduates of the program are prepared for a range of technical positions including system design, fabrication, manufacturing, HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning), and mechatronics.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering with a Major in Modeling and Simulation Engineering. The Modeling and Simulation Engineering Major will prepare students as modeling and simulation engineers of engineering systems with analog and digital hardware components and software aspects at its technical core with the advantage to extend the knowledge to other applications in engineering and the sciences. Students will gain skills necessary to create a concept or a design and testing it in real-world conditions through graphical and mathematical models, virtual reality simulations, software development, and data analysis.
