ACT/SAT Strategy Workshops

Join us for an informative combined introduction to the ACT and SAT. If you are preparing for college, you probably have some questions about the pre-college admission tests. This session will introduce you to both tests and highlight some of the key similarities and differences between them. Our experienced instructor will guide you through some sample questions and teach a you few strategies. Come learn the basics about the ACT and SAT. We know you'll get a lot out of this free session. Due to limited space, pre-registration is encouraged.

Who Should Attend:

This free session is open to high school students and their parents. Students who are just beginning to think about college, students who are preparing to take one of the college admission tests, and students who have already taken one of the tests will all get valuable strategies and information out of this hour-long strategy workshop.

Registration Information:

Note: Preregistration for face-to-face and Live-Online Strategy Workshops is preferred but not required. Registration for Strategy Workshops should be simpler than registration for courses, and should include the option to join program mailing lists, drip campaigns, etc.

SAT Blitz Course

About SAT Blitz:

ODU's SAT Blitz is offered during the academic year to prepare students to reach their chosen test dates at peak performance. These courses meet once per week, allowing time to practice new skills between sessions. Our multi-week course format allows abundant opportunities for learning and for interacting with our expert instructors. Courses are strategically scheduled during the weeks leading up to the most popular SAT dates and include 16 hours of instruction.

The College Board has made significant changes to the format and content of the SAT. Our experts will take the mystery out of the New SAT, making it clear exactly what you need to know and helping you to hone your skills for the new format.

SAT Summer Institute

About the Summer Institute:

The SAT Summer Institute is a combination of live (in-person) and online tools to help students perform at their peaks on test day. Four online review sessions are held in the weeks leading up to the fall SAT test dates. In addition, weekly online office hours provide a convenient way for students to get individualized help with specific questions or concerns that they may have. Students need only high-speed internet access, speakers, and Adobe Flash Player to participate in the online sessions—no additional software is required.

The interactive, one-hour online review sessions allow students to participate and ask questions of our expert test prep instructors. The live-online review sessions are recorded—students can still benefit even if their schedules don't allow live participation. Review sessions will be scheduled between the end of the course and the fall test dates.

Online office hours are free-form meetings open to all participants from the SAT Summer Institutes. Instructors will be available to answer any questions that students might have. The sessions are "drop-in" and are student-directed, so there will not be a planned presentation for each session. Instead, our instructors will answer questions and work through problems in the order that they are received.

Four online review sessions are held in the weeks leading up to the fall SAT test dates. The interactive, one-hour online review sessions allow students to participate and ask questions of our expert test prep instructors. The live-online review sessions are recorded—students can still benefit even if their schedules don't allow live participation. Review sessions will be scheduled between the end of the course and the fall test dates. Students need only high-speed internet access and speakers or headphones to participate in the online sessions—no additional software is required.

Weekly online office hours provide a convenient way for students to get individualized help with specific questions or concerns. Online office hours are free-form meetings open to all participants from the SAT Ultimate. Instructors will be available to answer any questions that students might have. The sessions are "drop-in" and are student-directed, so there will not be a planned presentation for each session. Instead, our instructors will answer questions and work through problems in the order that they are received.

In addition, students will have access to an online instructor-monitored question forum and to recordings of an expert instructor explaining and reviewing all the workbook modules. Access to the online resources will continue until the end of the calendar year, so students will have extended support as they complete their preparation independently.

  System Requirements

The Live-Online SAT Blitz and SAT Summer Institute is offered online using Adobe Connect, a free application. All you need to participate in live-online classes are a high-speed internet connection and speakers or headphones.

Course materials will be delivered directly to your home. We recommend registering at least four (4) business days in advance of the class start date to ensure timely delivery of your student package.

  Refund Policy

To withdraw from a course you must send a request in writing to credentialingcenter@odu.edu seven (7) days prior the start date of the course. Failure to attend a course does not constitute withdrawal. Course registration fees, less a $50 processing fee will be refunded to your credit card. There are no refunds once the class has begun.

Late withdrawals of six (6) days or less before the class begins, will result in the student being charged the $50 processing fee, as well as charges for books and/or other course material fees.
