All of these are fantastic reasons to pursue a Master's in Lifespan and Digital Communication at Old Dominion University. We are the only master's program in the country that approaches communication with both a Lifespan and Digital emphasis, combining the physical with the mediated, the traditional with emerging communication technologies. Our MA students take elective courses in one of three focus areas: Strategic Communication, Media Studies, and Relationships, Health, and Wellness.
My name is Dr. Gary Beck and I serve as the Graduate Program Director. We are so excited about what our MA program has to offer all our potential students: Those that come straight from their BA/BS, work full time and want to take night courses, or maybe travel and need flexibility in coursework. And those of us that are less sure of what the future may hold but are certain about their desire for a master's degree. Our graduate students come from all over the US and other countries, sharing a variety of cultural perspectives and life experiences.
To guide your studies, ODU Communication graduate faculty are among some of the very best in the field, recipients of national and international awards, actively publishing and passionate professionals. Their research and artistic approaches inform their teaching, provide fresh insight on our society, and allow for meaningful connections to our diverse, contemporary world.
Interested in joining us? Applications are due either November 1st (for Spring enrollment) or March 31st (for Summer or Fall). Please check with me personally via email if you would like to apply outside of this time frame to see what is possible.
