Information for instructors about teaching remotely.
Canvas enhances the classroom experience by enabling collaboration, feedback, and access to documents, assignments and other materials.
Need to host or attend a meeting from off-campus? Zoom is a cloud-based web conferencing service that allows users to meet and share content online. Start or join a meeting from anywhere with an internet connection.
With Zoom's Canvas integration, instructors can schedule, start and manage meetings directly from Canvas. Students can join meetings and access cloud recordings from within the course as well.
When faculty use ODU's Course Collaboration Tool to set up Zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams or shared Google Drives for their courses, students enrolled in those courses can access the collaboration tools from within the myODU portal or from within the course in Canvas.
All students have access to online file space:
Access virtual workstations with the same configuration and standard software as the standard ITS computer labs at move.odu.edu.
Download Microsoft Office software, and get your school work done from anywhere.
- Download Microsoft Office products on your home computer or mobile device.
- Access Office products online: office365.odu.edu
Access your student email from a mobile device or online at monarchs.odu.edu.
Need to share a video with your instructor as part of an assignment? Here are a couple of options:
- YouTube: Sure, you could upload assignments to your personal YouTube account, but you also have access to G Suite apps (including YouTube) as a student at ODU.
- Kaltura MediaSpace: This media sharing service (at odumedia.mediaspace.kaltura.com) is similar to YouTube, but features only ODU content. Everyone at ODU has a personal media channel for uploading and sharing content. Learn more about MediaSpace at ODU.
