Build Accessible, Real-World-Connected Makerspaces

Overview:
This interactive, 12-hour microcredential pathway introduces educators to the concept of makerspaces and strategies for creating accessible, empowering environments. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge to build makerspaces that engage diverse learners and connect projects to real-world experiences through community partnerships.

Dates & Times:

  • Zoom Sessions: June 24 – July 29 | 6:00 – 7:30 PM
     
  • In-Person Final Session (Required):
    • Option 1: July 30 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    • Option 2: August 4 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
      • (Lunch and consumables provided for the in-person session)

Session Breakdown:

  1. 6/24 – Understanding Makerspaces
     
  2. 7/1 – Designing Your Makerspace with Technology and Digital Tools
     
  3. 7/8 – Facilitating the Maker Mindset and Infusing Design Thinking
     
  4. 7/15 – Designing Collaborative Projects with Community Connections
     
  5. 7/22 – Ensuring Safety and Upkeep in the Makerspace
     
  6. 7/29 – Scaling and Sustaining Makerspace Programs with Community Partnerships
     
  7. 7/30 or 8/4 – In-Person Project Creation at the iLab (Make & Take)
