Freshman Checklist

Computer Science Students

This checklist will prepare you for Freshman Orientation with a step-by-step guide on what to do before, during, and after the event. Feel free to go over each section of the checklist to have a good understanding of what to expect.

Before Orientation

There are a lot of tasks to do before the orientation. This will allow you to have a easy and fun experience, as well as help you come prepared.

Do you have any transfer credits (AP, IB, or dual enrollment/DE) that you will be sending in to ODU?

Email Mrs. Williams with the list of AP,IB, DE and your scores.

Do you need to complete the ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning (ALEKS-PPL) assessment? Learn more about ALEKS.

Review 4-year plan according to your math placement (SAT/ACT scores). This can be viewed in the catalog.

Get to know how to use MIDAS, UIN, and password. If need further help, please visit ITS.

Review the CS curriculum sheet as well as the flow chart.

 

During Orientation

Orientation has started! Here are some helpful tips to get your day going.

  1. Have your MIDAS, Password and UIN available.
  2. Have the PowerPoint on how to register for classes open or easily available.
  3. The Zoom session for the Orientation will be sent to your ODU email on the day of the event.

After Orientation

It's time to wrap up Freshman Orientation. Please go over a couple of things before leaving.

If not, feel free to change it. You can change, add, drop classes until September 7, 2021.

Email Mrs. Williams your changes ASAP to make sure that they meet the CS requirements.

Due to the pandemic, many classes will need to be adapted, changed and might even be dropped. Many departments are adapting these classes on a weekly and daily basis so we urge you to constantly check your schedule.
