Major in Geography
The Geography program offers both BA and BS degrees in Geography. They require 36 hours (12 classes) of coursework in the major. Majors can tailor their program of study to specialize in geospatial technologies, environmental geography and/or human geography.
To major in Geography, submit a completed Major and Minor Declaration Form at the Political Science and Geography Department office, Batten Arts and Letters rm. 7000. Ask for Mrs. Parraway.

Minor in Geography
To Minor in Geography, submit a completed Major and Minor Declaration Form at the Political Science and Geography Department office, Batten Arts and Letters rm. 7000. Ask for Mrs. Parraway.
- Successfully complete GEOG 100S Cultural Geography or GEOG 101S Environmental Geography, and
- Successfully complete an additional twelve hours of Geography coursework (four courses) at the 300/400 level, with a minimum 2.00 GPA in those courses.
Geography Certificates
In addition, the Geography program offers five Certificate programs: the Certificate in Geographic Information Science, the Certificate in Spatial Analysis of Coastal Environments, the Certificate in Hazards and Emergency Management, the Certificate in Environmental Resources and Policy, and the Certificate in Urban Studies and Planning. These Certificates provide more specialized training. They can be completed either as part of the Geography Major or as a separate program.
