Political Science & GeographyGIS Day

Join us for GIS Day 2023!

Location: Webb Center Hampton-Newport News Rooms

Date and time: Thursday, October 26, 9:00am-12:30pm

GIS Day provides a forum for GIS users to demonstrate real-world applications in our society. It is an educational event to promote GIS applications and education in the communities at different levels. It is held on the third Wednesday of November each year, during Geography Awareness Week, a geographic literacy initiative sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

This annual event has been regularly offered on ODU campus since 2008. We aim to:

  • promote geospatial techniques on ODU campus and communities off-campus,
  • present current developments and applications of geospatial techniques,
  • demonstrate students' capabilities in geospatial techniques,
  • build and strengthen the connection between our students and faculty with local GIS professionals.
