Are you, or anyone you know, interested in running for an SGA elected position? Now is the chance to make your voice heard and lead the ODU Student Community!

The following executive board offices up for election are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Speaker of the Senate.

No matter who you are or where you come from, you have the opportunity and passion to create change for our community! It is important that all those who are interested in leading take the opportunity!

The general requirements for Office are:

  • All members of the Executive Board shall be enrolled in at least nine (9) credits (undergraduate) or six (6) credits (graduate). 
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students, and 3.0 for graduate students. 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of application for undergraduate students, and 3.0 at the time of application for graduate students. 
  • Is recommended that they have a class rank of sophomore or higher at the time of application, or by the next school year. 
  • Students must meet the requirements for Office at the time of application to be eligible for selection.

Special requirements for the Student Body President:

  • Be registered at the Norfolk campus of Old Dominion University. 
  • Remained in good academic standing for a minimum of two (2) regular, consecutive semesters prior to their election to Office (except in the case of succession). 
    • “Two (2) consecutive semesters” does not include any summer semesters or sessions. 
    • Any member is considered to have been a member for a full semester upon completion of nine (9) weeks of membership, in any semester. 
  • Shall have been a member of the Student Government Association for at least one (1) semester before being elected. 
  • Shall be available, in person over the summer for administration.  

Special requirements for the Student Body Vice President:

  • Be registered at the Norfolk campus of Old Dominion University. 
  • Remained in good academic standing for a minimum of one (1) full, regular Semester prior to their election to Office. 
  • Shall be available, in person over the summer for administration.
  • This nomination form will start the process for you, or someone you know, to become a student leader and serve the Monarch community!

Even if you are not interested in serving on the executive board, you should join the Student Government Association community by attending the Senate sessions every Tuesday at 3 PM in the Senate Chambers
