The Research Area Committees (RAC) are established to manage PhD Candidacy Exams and annual evaluations for PhD students in the related research areas. A faculty member may be a member of only one RAC, but may participate in the exams and evaluations for their PhD advisees no matter their assigned RAC. These areas and the makeup of the committees can be changed as needed by the Graduate Committee and faculty.
