4th Annual Monarch Short Film Festival

The 4th Annual Monarch Short Film Festival, featuring works from students and alumni, will take place February 28, 2026, at the University Theatre from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Submissions open on October 6, 2025, and close on February 1, 2026.
The Monarch Short Film Festival is a competitive event open to all ODU students and alumni. A jury of film program faculty will decide winners in five categories: best short fiction, best short documentary, best short animation, best alumni and best overall student film. Prizes and awards will be presented at a ceremony during the festival.
The judges will feature the top scoring movies at the festival, and the "Audience Favorite Film" will be determined by festival audience vote.
The Monarch Short Film Festival's event night on February 27 is free and open to the public.
