CPD 368: Internship in Professional Studies – Applied Micro-Internship + Strategy Lab

3 Credit Course | Multiple CRNs Available | Limited Enrollment

Students, this summer, don’t just take a class. Gain experience.

CPD 368 is a guided internship experience designed to help you build real, employment-ready skills while connecting with key leaders across Hampton Roads.

This fully online, asynchronous course allows you to:

• Complete a structured micro-internship with a Virginia Beach-based employer with over 200 employees and $25.8M in annual revenue
• Work on a real-world applied project with a respected regional nonprofit partner serving the community for more than 70 years
• Receive an internship stipend, if eligible
• Translate your major into workforce-ready competencies aligned with Hampton Roads and Virginia labor market needs
• Strengthen your professional brand through networking, reference development, and portfolio strategy

You will tackle real organizational challenges that apply across majors, including:

• Communication breakdowns between departments
• Delays in service delivery
• Client and customer satisfaction concerns

This is not busywork. You will analyze real issues and propose strategic solutions that you can talk about in interviews.

Throughout the term, you will also meet with me individually to assess your professional portfolio and develop a clear action plan for another internship and graduation readiness.

If you are preparing for internships or full-time employment, this course is designed for you.

Enrollment is limited due to employer commitments.
