Project Title
Honoring The Whole Person: A Quantitative Exploration into Client Satisfaction
with Counseling Services in Integrated Behavioral Health Settings

ABSTRACT

Client satisfaction is a central indicator of quality, accessibility, and effectiveness in counseling and mental health services. Yet, limited empirical attention has been given to how clients experience satisfaction within integrated behavioral health (IBH) settings, where physical and behavioral health services intersect. This quantitative, exploratory study aims to examine client satisfaction with counseling services in IBH environments from the client’s perspective. Informed by a person-centered theoretical framework, the study investigates the factors that shape satisfaction with counseling services delivered within integrated care systems. Data will be gathered using the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ), a validated satisfaction survey administered to adult clients receiving counseling within IBH settings, and analyzed utilizing correlational and regression statistical procedures. The anticipated findings intend to deepen the exploration and understanding of the potential relational, organizational, and systemic dimensions that may influence clients’ experiences in these multifaceted care settings. The results hold potential to inform theory, enhance clinical practice, strengthen counselor education and supervision, and guide policy development in integrated behavioral health care. By elevating client perspectives, this study ultimately aims to foster more compassionate, responsive, and equitable approaches to counseling provided within integrated behavioral health settings.
