Update: ODU Campuses to Reopen at Noon Monday; Classes Start at 1 p.m.

Keeping the safety of our students and employees in mind, Old Dominion University will reopen on Monday, Jan. 8, with a delayed opening at noon and classes starting at 1 p.m.

Essential personnel should report for duty as normal, unless advised otherwise by their supervisor. Other personnel may need to report for duty as requested by their supervisor.

Faculty, staff and students are urged to use their own best judgment when considering traveling to campus during times of inclement weather. For traffic and road conditions, call 511 or go to www.511virginia.org. Supervisors are asked to be liberal in approving leave for employees requesting time outside of the official closings.

Residential communities opened today and are fully staffed in preparation for students' arrival, but we recommend students move in on Monday, when temperatures are expected to rise. Please check local weather conditions before traveling to campus and email housing@odu.edu with any questions.

Students scheduled to attend Preview will have advisors available Monday, Jan. 8 at noon in Perry Library to help with class scheduling and registration. New students who have not registered may also drop-in at Perry Library. For questions about Preview, email preview@odu.edu.

The Bookstore is open today until 5 p.m. and will be open Monday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

University officials are monitoring weather conditions and will communicate any changes to the operating schedule via the ODU Alerts system.

Please monitor local television stations for up-to-the-minute weather information and check your ODU email or ODU's website at www.odu.edu to obtain official information about delays, cancellations and closings.

Any campus emergencies should be reported to University Police by calling 757-683-4000. To sign-up for ODU Alerts, visit www.odu.edu/alerts.
