Old Dominion University offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in management with a major in human resource management. HRM is a specialized area within business that focuses on attracting, developing, and retaining an organization’s workforce. An HRM major is well suited for students interested in careers such as human resource management, talent management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, and human capital consulting. Many students choose to complete internships to get real-world experience and earn course credit. Past students have interned with companies such as ADP, Amazon, Enterprise, Geico, TowneBank, and Huntington Ingalls Industries.

Students have numerous opportunities for professional development, networking, and participation in state case competitions through ODU’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter, which has strong ties to the Hampton Roads professional SHRM chapter and HRVirginia.
