Effective February 1, 2021, food will not be permitted in the University Libraries. With cases of COVID-19 increasing in Virginia and nationally, more time spent indoors, and students returning from a wide variety of locations, this will support compliance with University policy on face coverings. Drinks are allowed, but face coverings must be worn except while actively drinking. Face coverings must fully cover both nose and mouth and must be worn in all spaces, including study rooms.

University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, George Mason, James Madison, and William & Mary have not allowed food in their libraries since the beginning of Fall 2020 semester. Implementing a prohibition on consuming food within ODU Libraries is, therefore, consistent with the actions of other peer institutions during this unprecedented time.
