To register to compete in the Poetry Slam, email learningcommons@odu.edu. Please register by 11:59 PM on Monday, April 17 . Attendees do not need to register!
Poetry Slam Rules:
- Each poet must have three poems prepared.
- Each poem must be the poet's own original work.
- Please refrain from using explicit language or content.
- Each poet gets three minutes to read one poem. If the poet goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score.
- Poets may not use props, costumes, or musical instruments.
- Three judges will be selected from the audience. The three scores will be added, giving the poet a total score from 0-30.
- There will be three scored rounds. The scores will be tallied for all rounds with the top three scorers receiving recognition.
