In response to feedback from students and administrators, the Old Dominion University Libraries will extend the hours that the upper floors of Perry Library are accessible to students, faculty, and staff.

Beginning March 27, all four floors of Perry Library will be accessible until 2 a.m., rather than midnight, Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. Summer hours will remain unchanged.

The hour of operation change is based on a significant drop in users by 2 a.m., as indicated by gate counts and reports from Learning Commons overnight staff. Keeping upper floors closed during low occupancy times contributes to the security of library users.

"We take student feedback seriously and have been investigating ways to provide more quiet study space, while preserving student safety," said Kathryn Boone, the Learning Commons operations manager. "We hope that the extended hours on all floors of Perry Library will provide students with the quiet study space they need."
