The Coursedog implementation will be delivered in two phases to minimize risk, support organizational readiness, and ensure a successful transition to modern academic operations.

  • Phase 1 (2026) focuses on implementing Academic Scheduling and Course Demand Projections to support Spring 2027 scheduling and registration cycle.
  • Phase 2 (2027) expands the platform to include Curriculum Management, Catalog Management, and Academic Handbook capabilities, providing a more comprehensive academic operations solution for the university.

Phase 1 Milestones & Activities

Project Initiation & Procurement (January – March 2026)

  • During this phase, the project was formally initiated and foundational activities were completed to prepare for implementation.
  • Key activities included:
  • Engagement with Digital Transformation & Technology (DTT) to establish project support and governance
  • Development and approval of the project Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Completion of security and risk review activities for the Coursedog platform
  • Procurement review and contract execution for a multi-year implementation partnership with Coursedog
  • Project team formation and implementation planning

Planning, Discovery, & Design (March – June 2026)

This phase focused on understanding current business processes, identifying requirements, and preparing the technical environment for implementation.

Key activities included:

  • Review and documentation of existing academic scheduling processes and workflows
  • Stakeholder discovery sessions with Registrar and Academic Affairs teams
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) implementation within the Coursedog staging environment
  • Provisioning of staging access for project team members
  • Banner Ethos integration setup and configuration
  • Data review, validation, and mapping activities
  • Solution design and implementation planning

Configuration & Integration (May – July 2026)

This phase focuses on configuring the Academic Scheduling and Course Demand Projections modules and integrating the platform with Banner.

Key activities include:

  • Coursedog platform configuration
  • Workflow and approval process setup
  • Classroom, room feature, and scheduling data configuration
  • Banner integration development and testing
  • User role and security configuration
  • Dashboard and reporting setup

Testing & Validation (June – July 2026)

This phase ensures the system functions as expected and meets business and technical requirements prior to production deployment.

Key activities include:

  • Functional testing
  • Integration testing
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Data validation and reconciliation
  • Issue resolution and retesting
  • Production readiness review

Administrator Training (July 2026)

Training will be conducted for designated system administrators and functional leads.

Key activities include:

  • Vendor-led administrator training sessions
  • Configuration and platform management training
  • Security and access management training
  • Train-the-trainer knowledge transfer approach

End User Training (August 2026)

Training will be provided to end users who will utilize Coursedog for academic scheduling activities.

Key activities include:

  • Registrar Office training sessions

  • Process walkthroughs and readiness activities

Production Go-Live (September 2026)

The Academic Scheduling and Course Demand Projections modules will be deployed to production and prepared to support Spring 2027 scheduling activities.
