What are KISS Kits?
The KISS Kit is a curated sexual health resource designed to empower Old Dominion Monarchs to take charge of their well-being. A collaboration between the Women’s and Gender Equity Center (WGEC) and the Office of Health Promotion (OHP), these kits provide the essential tools needed to ensure that "Protecting Your Reign" is both easy and enjoyable.
What’s Inside?
Each kit is packed with essentials to promote safer sex and comprehensive education:
- The Triple Threat: Three high-quality condoms (two regular for reliable protection and one flavored for a bit of variety).
- Smooth Sailing: One single-use packet of premium lubricant to enhance comfort and safety.
- The "Protect Your Reign" Education Card: An ODU-specific guide featuring vital sexual health tips, consent reminders, and campus resource information.
- The Wellness Wildcard: A rotating health education card from our third-party partners covering various topics like STI prevention, reproductive rights, or healthy relationship boundaries.
How They are Made & Distributed
These kits are a true campus community effort.
Each kit is packed with essentials to promote safer sex and comprehensive education:
- Assembly: Every KISS Kit is hand-assembled with care by dedicated OHP student staff and Monarch volunteers, ensuring that peer-to-peer advocacy is at the heart of the project.
- Distribution: KISS Kits are available at the following campus locations:
- Student Recreation & Well-Being Center (SRWC) – Health Commons
- Student Health Services
- Office of Intercultural Relations
- Women’s & Gender Equity Center
-
KISS Kits are available at the three office locations during their normal office hours.
What is Testing Tuesdays?
Testing Tuesdays connects ODU students with local health organizations that provide free, confidential STI testing and sexual health resources on campus.
Our community partners include:
- Norfolk Department of Health (NDPH) – testing for HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis C
- LGBT Life Center – testing for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia
Students may also receive education, prevention resources, referrals, and connections to additional care and support services during these events.
Why Get Tested?
Getting tested is an important part of taking charge of your sexual health. Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can have little to no symptoms, so routine testing helps you stay informed, protect your partner(s), and connect to care early if needed. Through the Protect Your Reign campaign, Old Dominion University partners with local community organizations to bring free, confidential STI testing directly to campus through our TestingTuesdays program.
No Appointments Needed!
Testing Tuesdays are offered as walk-in events, so no appointment is required. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis during event hours.
How is testing done?
Testing methods may vary depending on the community partner and type of STI test being provided. Testing may include a finger-prick blood sample or a urine sample. Both the Norfolk Department of Health and LGBT Life Center offer confidential testing in a supportive and student-friendly environment.
How do I get my results?
Result processes may vary depending on the type of test and community partner. Some rapid test results may be available during your visit, while other results may be shared later through secure follow-up communication from the testing provider. Staff will explain the process and next steps
during your appointment.
Will my parents find out my results?
No, all results remain confidential.
