Become an expert physiatrist and improve outcomes for patients with disabling conditions in our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency.

What sets us apart?

Get comprehensive training in electrodiagnostics, interventional procedures, chronic pain treatment and more. Trainees work in both inpatient and outpatient settings as they provide care for patients with neuromusculoskeletal disorders, traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.

Our program offers opportunities for residents to work one-on-one with faculty during their rotations and pursue specialized interests early in their training.

Learn more about our GME programs

Our community-based Graduate Medical Education is one of the nation's few training programs in which all residencies are integrated among a number of hospitals and community clinic settings, instead of one fixed setting such as a university hospital. Our residents work at 14 teaching affiliate hospitals, staffing hospitals 24 hours a day, implementing new treatment methods and conducting research. They see patients from diverse backgrounds and work with community faculty.

Explore our shared campus

One of the benefits of attending Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is the close proximity to CHKD and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The shared campus gives students access to educational opportunities as well as high-level subspecialty care.
