Please join The Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention for the first of two upcoming opportunities to engage with Dr. Kristin Gansle. We are hosting a Workshop and Virtual Café focused on Navigating Challenging Conversations and Dealing with Conflict.
Kristin A. Gansle, PhD, is a Professor in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies at Old Dominion University in Educational Psychology and Program Evaluation. She is the Faculty Ombuds for ODU and has published in the areas of teacher preparation, effective instruction, school psychology, and special education. She manages data collection, analysis, and reporting for Louisiana’s evaluation of teacher preparation programs, and currently works with colleagues in Special Education on Virginia Department of Education special education data.
The workshop, Navigating Challenging Conversations and Dealing with Conflict, will take place on January 22, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM via Zoom. Challenging conversations are a routine part of faculty work with students, colleagues, and administrators. This session will discuss why conflict often arises, strategies for deescalating tension, and practical, evidence supported tools that can be used before, during, and after difficult conversations.

A Virtual Café will follow on January 29, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM via Zoom. We will start by welcoming everyone back for the Spring semester and introducing any new faculty in attendance. Next, this informal session will provide space to reflect on the workshop, ask questions, and discuss real world scenarios related to challenging conversations and conflict.
