Undergraduate research volunteer positions are available in the Cellular Mechanobiology Lab (www.odu.edu/~vmarutha) directed by Dr. Venkat Maruthamuthu. Selected students will carry out experimental research at the interface of engineering and life sciences with the goal of understanding how mechanical forces influence cell function, likely starting Summer 2025.
Students will have the opportunity to learn experimental techniques, work with cells, present research findings and possibly publish their findings in research journals.
As of Spring 2025, applicants could be juniors, sophomores or freshmen. Applicants can be in mechanical engineering, biological sciences or health sciences. Prior experience is not required, but the student should be strongly interested and motivated to learn.
How to apply: Interested students should send an e-mail to Dr. Maruthamuthu (vmarutha@odu.edu) explaining why you are interested, along with a C.V/resume (including GPA and likely graduation date) attached. Applicants will be considered starting now until suitable student(s) are selected.
