The ODU Video Game Design & Development Club (VGDDC) & Monarch Institute for Game Design and Development (MIGDD) are pleased to announce the ODU Serious Games Jam for Spring 2025!
What is a game jam?
A game jam is a game-making competition that runs for a short window of time. In these competitions, participants will be given a special theme at the start of the jam, and are tasked with creating a game centered around the theme. Participants are encouraged to either go in alone, or team up with other students!
Serious games?
One additional requirement for this jam is that all game submissions must be serious in nature. Serious games are games that exist to serve a purpose outside of the game itself, such as to educate players or to help persuade players.
Why should I participate?
Game jams can be a great way to learn new game development skills very quickly in a low-stakes environment. Game jam projects are also great for filling out your resume & portfolio! Tabletop game submissions are also allowed! There is also prize for the Winning and Runner up Team.
