Health Promoting Universities: Building a Healthier ODU Together
Old Dominion University is joining the global Health Promoting Universities (HPU) movement—an approach that recognizes health and well-being as essential components of a thriving campus community.
Grounded in the internationally recognized Limerick Framework for Action, the Health Promoting Universities initiative encourages us to move beyond individual well-being efforts and create environments, systems, and cultures that help our Planet, Places, and People flourish.
Across ODU, faculty, staff, and students are already contributing to health and well-being through programs, services, policies, teaching, research, and everyday interactions. The HPU initiative provides an opportunity to connect, strengthen, and elevate these efforts while identifying new ways to embed well-being into the fabric of university life.
By taking a whole-university approach, ODU aims to foster a campus environment where health, well-being, sustainability, belonging, and success are woven into the student, employee, and community experience.
