The Master of Library and Information Studies program invites all students to attend a free public keynote by Shamichael Hallman on Saturday, April 18th, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Yetiv Auditorium, Batten Arts and Letters Building, Norfolk, Virginia.

Hallman is the author of Meet Me at the Library and Director of Civic Health and Economic Opportunity at the Urban Libraries Council. In his keynote, "Cultivating Civic Health: The Power of Public Spaces," he draws on research and practice from across the country to explore how public institutions — and libraries in particular — can address social isolation, foster belonging, and strengthen democratic life in communities. His work speaks to students across disciplines, from education and public policy to social work, urban studies, and the humanities.

The event is free and open to the public. Presented by the ODU Master of Library and Information Studies Program.
