Dr. Pagola at the COSMIC Laboratory is looking for an undergraduate research student (or a graduate student paid as an hourly employee) to work on continuing kinetic measurements using Raman spectroscopy directly from a ball mill for the calculation of the rate constants of a mechanochemical reaction of known chemical mechanism from kinetic data (Raman spectra as a function of time), leading to high quality, publishable data and results. The chemical kinetics data is analyzed using MATLAB scripts (already written). The measurement of calibration curves (Raman intensity as a function of moles of reactants), and the reaction kinetics using a new sapphire reaction jar are sought.
