Students interested in internships with the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. are invited to attend a virtual information session on January 29 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
This session will introduce internship opportunities in the offices of Members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives and will cover typical responsibilities, application timelines, and guidance for preparing competitive congressional internship applications. These internships are paid and provide hands on experience at the center of federal policymaking. Opportunities are available to students across all majors and levels.
The session will feature a special guest, Mr. Mike Henry, Chief of Staff for Tim Kaine, who will share insights into what congressional offices look for in successful interns.
Students will also learn about Virginia Delegation Support Grants, which may provide housing in Washington, D.C. and a monetary stipend for selected students interning with a Member of the Virginia Congressional Delegation.
Even if you are not ready to apply for Summer 2026, this session is a great way to begin planning early for a Summer 2027 congressional internship.
Students who indicate interest in a specific congressional office will also have access to personalized support through the Monarch Internship and Co Op Office, including application guidance, interview preparation, assistance with required application videos using professionally equipped recording rooms, and free access to professional internship attire.
All registered students will receive the event recording and slides following the session.
We hope that you will join us and register today!
