Lara Canner has accepted the newly created position of the Allan Blank Curator of Music Special Collections at Old Dominion University's Libraries.

The position is funded by the Allan and Margot Blank Foundation, which was created by Allan Blank, a resident of Richmond, to support musical and artistic organizations. The Foundation primarily supports chamber groups, choral groups and soloists who perform contemporary music, and artistic organizations that exhibit regional artists.

Canner will focus on curating and promoting rare and unique music special collections, including the artists, works and information available in ODU's F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room. In this role, she will also support and advance the mission of ODU's new School of Music and help establish ODU as a preeminent institution for the study and performance of contemporary music.

Canner also has worked on the WTAR/WTKR Film Archives, another grant-funded project, in the Libraries' Special Collections & University Archives department.
