Crisis Support

Crisis Counseling for Students

  • Call Counseling Services: 757-683-4401
    • Press 2 to speak with an ODU counselor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • TimelyCare’s TalkNow virtual support service provides in-the-moment emotional support and coaching. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no cost to students through the end of March.
  • Individual and group drop-in support groups (2007 Webb Student Center)
    • Facilitated by the Victims Crisis Assistance and Response Team
    • Monday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Tuesday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Drop-in mental health support at the Office of Counseling Services (2403 Student Recreation & Well-Being Center)
    • Monday, March 23 through Thursday, March 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Drop-in Support Group at the Office of Counseling Services (2403 Student Recreation & Well-Being Center)
    • Monday, March 23 through Thursday, March 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Therapy Dogs across various campus locations
    • Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Crisis Support for Faculty and Staff

  • Confidential counseling and support are available 24/7 at no cost through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Therapy dogs will be on campus Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in and around Webb Student Center.
  • Training on  Trauma-informed Practices will be held on Friday, March 20.
    • In-person sessions will be held in North Cafe at Webb Student Center:
      • 9:00 a.m. AP Faculty and Classified Staff
      • 11:00 a.m. Teaching Faculty
      • 1:00 p.m. AP Faculty
      • 3:00 p.m. Teaching Faculty

Undergraduate Students

  • 24/7 Peer Support: Students can access peer-to-peer emotional support through TalkCampus, available anytime.

Graduate Students

  • Counseling Services appointments (virtual and in-person) are available Monday–Friday through self-scheduling on the Monarch Wellness Portal or by calling at 757-683-4401 and Press 1.
  • National Grad Crisis Line: 1-877-GRAD-HLP (1-877-472-3457)
  • 24/7 Peer Support: Students can access peer-to-peer emotional support through TalkCampus, available anytime.
