Complaints under Title IX
Federal and state laws prohibit retaliation against any individual who files a complaint in good faith.
If you are a student and believe you have been subjected to
- sexual harassment (including sexual assault, sexual violence or other forms of sexual misconduct); OR
- any other form of gender discrimination under Title IX,
you may report such misconduct or file a formal complaint with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity. The complaint procedure and complaint form can be found at odu.edu/equity/complaints.
Sexual harassment, including sexual assault and violence, is a form of gender discrimination prohibited by Title IX. A University employee who believes s/he has been subjected to discrimination or harassment in the workplace because of your sex may also file a complaint with the Title IX Coordinator. Please note: complaints of workplace sexual harassment that do not rise to the level of a Title IX violation may be subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and it's related policies.
