Welcome to ODU!

We here at the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) along with our colleagues throughout our University are dedicated to making your time with us transformative, academically rewarding, and fun!

You will find that the ODU community is ready to offer you any assistance you need to succeed. Here at CGE, we have many ways to help you from monitoring your visas to providing part of the extensive social program available to our international students and scholars. We encourage you to connect with us at any time for information and advice.

You will find ODU a University with a truly global outlook, always aware of the importance of viewing the world internationally. This spirit extends to our community here in Hampton Roads where our global populations and international corporations can allow you to extend your experiences beyond the campus in ways that may help your career, create fulfilling personal connections, or contribute to the charities and organizations in our area.

You will find so many opportunities waiting for you as an international visitor at ODU. Many of the staff at CGE come from different countries and several have studied abroad the one common message from us all is to TAKE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES. This means trying new things, engaging with American culture, telling us your stories, and getting to know as many of our vibrant community as you can.

Thank you for choosing to spend a part of your life's journey with us at ODU. You have made a great decision!

Paul Currant, Ph.D., Senior International Officer

Dragas International Center

The Dragas International Center opened in 1995. Funds to support the extensive renovation of the facility was provided through the generosity of local businessmen George Dragas, Jr. and Marcus Dragas.

The Dragas family has long supported Old Dominion University, and George Dragas, Jr. served as Rector of the Board of Visitors in 1990-91.

The Center for Global Engagement, Study Abroad, and Visa and Immigration Service Advising is now located in Dragas Hall -- a beautiful, newly renovated building located on the corner of Hampton Blvd and 49th Street.
