I'm sharing two upcoming events in Hampton Roads (Norfolk) that are especially meaningful given Old Dominion University's commitment to our military, veterans, and their families. I would like to invite you to attend or help spread the word.

These events are part of the work that Veteran's Spouse Project does that helps give voice to military and veteran spouses while also helping bridge military and civilian communities through storytelling.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, there will be a “Mapping Your Story” writing workshop at Sewells Point Golf Course, 660 Ruthven Rd., Norfolk, VA 23511. This workshop is designed for military and veteran spouses, including dual-military spouses who are serving themselves, and offers a chance to reflect on and begin writing their own stories. More information is here: https://veteransspouseproject.org/workshop/military-spouse-writing-workshop-norfolk/

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, there will be “Heart to Script: The In*Between Series” at the Wells Theatre, 108 E. Tazewell St., Norfolk, VA 23510. This event brings military spouse stories to the stage in a powerful way and is intended to help build greater understanding and connection across the wider community. More information is here:

If either event sounds meaningful to you, please attend. And if not, sharing them with others in the area — especially military and veteran spouses, including dual-military spouses — would mean a great deal.
