Recent EPPE graduate, Dr. Melani Loney, won the Graduate Student Research Award for AERA's SSRL Sig. This award was based on her dissertation: Effects of self-regulated learning on community college students' metacognition, motivation, and achievement in geoscience courses. Dr. Loney was advised by Dr. Linda Bol and supported by Dr. Joanna Garner. Dr. Loney works as a program manager at The Center for Educational Partnership at ODU. The Studying and Self-Regulated Learning Special Interest Group of AERA will bestow this honor on Dr. Loney at the business meeting at the AERA annual conference in Philadelphia, PA on April 14th.
