Dr. Xinyue Ren won a VIVA Open Adopt Grant from the Virtual Library of Virginia based at George Mason University. The goal of the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) Open Adopt Grant is to reduce the costs of higher education for Virginia students by eliminating textbook costs. This is achieved by providing support for the time and effort it takes faculty and professional staff to adopt a pre-existing open resource for use in their classrooms. Dr. Ren will receive a stipend for incorporating open educational resources from VIVA Open in IDT 617: Foundations of Instructional Technology instead of costly textbooks. The average student will save $280 from this switch.
