Old Dominion University physics professor and Eminent Scholar Charles Hyde received a 2016 Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) on Feb. 16 in Richmond.

The awards luncheon at the Jefferson Hotel was attended by Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

Hyde is Old Dominion's 29th SCHEV honoree and the second physicist in a row, following Gail Dodge last year.

SCHEV has bestowed the statewide honor annually since 1987 to selected faculty members for excellence in teaching, research, knowledge integration and public service. The Outstanding Faculty Award is open to nominees from all public and private Virginia institutions of higher education.
