The CME Program is dedicated to facilitating the lifelong education of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, meeting the changing healthcare environment, and improving the health of our community by providing educational activities that enhance the knowledge, competence, and when applicable, performance of our healthcare professionals.
Expected outcomes
Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University CME will provide high quality, evidence-based educational activities with the expectation of providing measurable outcomes that will enhance practice, reduce professional practice gaps, and increase competency.
Educational activities provided by the CME office will be independent from commercial influence and meet the criteria for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM as designated by the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award, follow the accreditation requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the AMA Ethical Opinion on Gifts to Physicians from Industry. CME activities will promote continued improvement by offering relevant medical education strategies, quality and safety initiatives, and individual and community practice standards that will improve patient outcomes and ultimately make a positive impact on community health throughout the region.
