Old Dominion University offers a Bachelors of Science in Public Health with a major in Health Services Administration. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance the administration and the delivery of health services through healthcare management and policy education. Health administrators plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage facilities, specific clinical areas and practices for groups of physicians. They facilitate direct changes that conform to changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and technology.

  • Graduates will serve as leaders for health care organizations in public, private, and military organizations.

  • Students will have the opportunity to gain practical healthcare management experience and drive the innovation in healthcare policy.

  • The curriculum integrates a multidisciplinary approach including global health, public health, health care finance, health services research, epidemiology, and health care policy and management. Students will also earn a minor in management with this program.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Health Services Administration (B.S.P.H.) at ODU?
Students entering the Bachelor of Science program in Health Services Administration (B.S.P.H.) should meet the minimum university admission requirements Undergraduate Admission.
  • ODU students who have completed all prerequisite courses with a C or better and meet the minimum cumulative GPA (2.00) requirement are admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. Transfer students may complete the prerequisite courses at another college or university but are responsible for having a transfer credit evaluation completed by the transfer evaluation unit in the Office of Admissions to determine that transfer courses are equivalent and acceptable to Old Dominion University requirements. Admission is conducted on a rolling basis.
