From ODU to the Foreign Service: what does it mean to represent the United States abroad?
ODU alumnus Donald Maynard spent two decades in the U.S. Foreign Service, with assignments in Brazil, Iraq, the United Kingdom, India, France, Australia, Pakistan, and Barbados. Specializing in public diplomacy and public affairs, he worked across cultures to communicate U.S. policies and values, build relationships, and engage journalists, students, civil society leaders, cultural institutions, and governments.
In Behind the Flag: 20 Years Representing the United States Overseas, Donald will reflect on the people, places, challenges, and lessons that shaped his career, and on what diplomacy looks like beyond the headlines.
Please join us for what promises to be a great talk followed by a Q&A and refreshments on Wednesday, October 28th at 4:30pm
