Career Pathways Workshop for graduate students: Applied Research: From Ideas to Impact
Research has the power to inform decisions, solve real-world problems, and improve communities. But how do ideas move from the classroom, laboratory, or dissertation to meaningful impact?
Join a panel of ODU researchers as they discuss the role of applied research in addressing challenges facing communities, organizations, and policymakers. Learn how researchers partner with external stakeholders, translate findings into practice, secure funding for impactful projects, and build careers that connect scholarship with real-world outcomes.
Whether you are interested in academic, government, nonprofit, or industry careers, understanding how research can be applied beyond the university is an increasingly valuable skill. This session will provide graduate students with practical insights on creating research that matters and making a difference through their scholarly work.
