October 19, 2026

Thursday, October 22, 2026 | Noon–2 p.m. | Webb North Mall

Faculty and staff are invited to join the Women's and Gender Equity Center and Norfolk Public Library to explore the history of LGBTQ+ representation in books, from stories that once kept queer identities hidden or coded to works that openly celebrate queer lives. The event will also examine the history and ongoing impact of efforts to censor books featuring LGBTQ+ people and themes, and why access to these stories matters.

Browse a display of books with queer representation, learn about library programs or sign up for a library card, and enjoy trivia, bracelet making, themed mocktails, and snacks. Trivia participants can win a “blind date with a book” or a Pride prize, and Pride giveaways will be available for everyone.

Stop by anytime between noon and 2 p.m.
