Joshua M. Sill

Dr. Sill currently serves as the Vice Dean of Graduate Medical Education and ACGME Designated Institutional Official at Old Dominion University, where he oversees the university’s 50 residency and fellowship programs. In this capacity, he supervises the education and training of nearly 500 residents and fellows. He has worked in Graduate Medical Education for nearly 20 years, having taught and mentored trainees in 18 programs in Texas, Ohio, and Virginia.

Dr. Sill attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Medical Honor Society. He completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, Davis/Travis Air Force Base combined residency program. He did his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He completed a Master of Science in Healthcare Delivery at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Dr. Sill was recruited to Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in 2013 to develop the region's only Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training program, where he served as the inaugural Program Director. He has served in numerous other leadership roles including Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center, and the Medical Director of the Respiratory Therapy Program. He is also the past President of the Virginia Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Prior to joining EVMS, Dr. Sill served for 11 years in the United States Air Force. During his highly decorated career he served as Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and Director of the Multinational Clinic at the NATO Base in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has received numerous honors and awards including EVMS/Sentara Endowed Chair for Academic Leadership Advancement, Inside Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40, Virginia Business Magazine’s Top Doctors in Virginia, American College of Physicians Inpatient Subspecialist Teaching Award, Virginia Academy of Sleep Medicine Outstanding Service Award, and the President’s Faculty Award for Excellence. Dr. Sill is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
