Diehn Concert Series Features Saxophonist Houston Person

Saxophonist Houston Person will perform with the John Toomey Trio as part of the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. April 15 at the Chandler Recital Hall at Old Dominion University.

As eclectic as he is talented, Person has recorded everything from disco and gospel to pop and R&B, in addition to his trademark soulful hard bop. After years as a producer and house tenor for HighNote Records and touring with the late Etta Jones, Person is now known as a master of popular songs played in a relaxed, highly accessible style reminiscent Ben Webster.

Person will be on campus for five days starting April 11, giving clinics and performing in two concerts as part of his Jazz Residency, which is funded by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.

To purchase tickets for the April 15 concert, which are $10 for ODU students and $15 for general admission, or for more information click this link. Free parking is available in Garage E, 4904 Bluestone Ave.
