Acclaimed Scholar of Race, Gender and Law will be Constitution Day Speaker

Dorothy E. Roberts, professor of law, sociology and Africana studies at the University of Pennsylvania, will be the Constitution Day speaker at 6 p.m. Sept. 25 in Room 1012 of the Batten Arts & Letters Building.

Her topic is "Killing the Black Body: The Urgency of Reproductive Justice."

Roberts is an acclaimed scholar of race, gender and the law. Her pathbreaking work in law and public policy focuses on contemporary issues in health, social justice and bioethics, especially as they impact the lives of women, children and African-Americans.

The free event is organized by the Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs. It is sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, the College of Arts & Letters, the Department of Women's Studies, the Friends of Women's Studies, the University Women's Caucus, the Institute for the Humanities and the Office of Intercultural Relations.
